Photo hosting site?

Looking for an easy to use photo hosting service for an amateur photographer. This individual is not necessarily wanting to make money off of his photos but does want his own domain name, very easy setup (computer illiterate), and possibly the ability for users to make prints from the site. Any ideas? Doesn%26#039;t want to spend a lot of money a month, but does want to share his photographs with others with a proffesional look.

Photo hosting site?

This isn%26#039;t exactly what you want, but deviantART is very user friendly, free startup, and has the ability to sell prints. I also like Shutterfly. It is also free to set-up and prints only cost about $.12 each. deviantART heads towards the more artistic side while Shutterfly is used by pretty much everybody. Hope this helps!

Photo hosting site?

Alas, this dream has yet to come true.

I%26#039;m in the same situation... tell me if you get a solution. =]

Other Replys:You%26#039;re not, by chance, a Mac user are you?

If you were, you could host a great site for nothing using iWeb.

Other Replys:If you have the ability to (or your buddy does) run your own website, you may want to consider Coppermine Photo Gallery. It%26#039;s not too complicated to use and gives you very comprehensive set of tools for organizing and displaying your photographs. The whole thing is web/menu driven. You can display your images in public or restrict them to members only. There is at least one e-commerce add-on that would allow you to setup your images for sale. Initially however, I would strongly recommend that you find someone that can help you with getting it up and running, since you mentioned that you%26#039;re somewhat of a novice when it comes to computers. As you get comfortable with it, you can take advantage of more advanced functions that this fully customizable tool offers. There are many samples of the setup and documentation is quite good in my opinion.

Below are links to the aforementioned products:

Other Replys:Use 1%26amp;1%26#039;s photo gallery builder.

The domain name is included in the hosting fee. ($4/month)

Web Hosting??

I just bought a new domain on Go Daddy.Com and they offer something called WebHosting that I can purchase for 3.99 a month and then they have free hosting with web site builder.. Can someone tell me the difference and what they recommend??

Web Hosting??

If you like to create websites (usually you will end up more than 1 website), go for multiple web hosting services where you could host all your websites in one account.

I would like to suggest following webhosting , they are excellent.

Hostmonster http://www.hostmonster.com/track/ryukend...

They offer hosting of %26quot;unlimited domains%26quot; and you will get massive webspace of 200000 MB (200 GB ). They only charge $5.95/month and they offer %26quot;a free Domain Name%26quot; and installing service called %26quot;Fantastico%26quot;. By using Fantastico, you could create own forum, photo gallery, shopping cart (e-commerce),your own auction site and your own blogs within few seconds. They also offer %26quot;Free Website Builder%26quot; as well.

Visit the site to check details.

Following site is quite good to register domains as price is reasonable with free privacy. Some charge about $5/ year just for free privacy.

IPOWER http://www.anurl.com/?TXIBE

Web Hosting??

Free hosting = advertisements

paid hosting = No ads

personally I%26#039;ll take the no ads

Other Replys:If you get the free version Go Daddy has a banner at the top of the page. If you pay there is no banner.

Host it yourself for free.

Other Replys:I recommend webhosting: web-site-builder will be a bunch of templates which will make it difficult (as it is with Google%26#039;s Page Creator) if not impossible (as it is with most other templated website building mechanisms) to truly and fully define your web pages%26#039; look and feel and have, you know, %26quot;granular%26quot; control.

Hi yeah someone help me please. Domain site names....!!!!!!!?

hi, i want to create and publish a web site with my chosen domain name, but i don%26#039;t want to create it on freewebs or piczo or any other web hosting service sites. I want to create my own official site that has it%26#039;s own personal domain name. And i want it to be COMPLETLEY FREE. Anyone know any sites?Please post links or any help you can give me. I am willing to do the coding/html myself, just the publishing i need done. Thanx in advance.

Hi yeah someone help me please. Domain site names....!!!!!!!?

It is really impossible to get a free domain. The best you can do is a domain redirection. (.tk, .co.nr) However, it is possible to find free domain hosting, although, it might carry some restrictions, i.e. it will probably be temporary, and there will probably be advertising.

My advice to you is to just start out on a freeserver, hone your web design skills, and then when you can, (I am assuming you are a teenager, and therefore, can%26#039;t purchase a domain.) you can purchase your own domain/hosting. Purchasing a domain is really easier than finding it for free, because free domains don%26#039;t exist.

Buying a domain, please help!?

Hi there,

My husband and i are starting up our own construction company and need to open a simple website and buy our own domain.

When it comes to pc%26#039;s im not at all clued up and need some advice.

Who is a good reputal company for us to buy our .co.uk from?? and also who is a good host to use??, we have had all different kinds of information given to us but the more we recieve the more confused i get!!

We are basically just looking for an advertising page with a link to email us, we are not selling anything online.

Can you guys help with who i should buy my domain from and Who i should us to host it with?

All suggestions are greatly appreciated

Buying a domain, please help!?

BT is not bad. I am not saying its the cheapest. But for 鎷? a month we have a website with up to 20 E/Mails addresses. We have just started our own business. The web site we have designed looks real cool.

It includes the domain name. But you do have to know your way around the software. Its pretty easy to use.

Buying a domain, please help!?

www.123-reg.co.uk are the absolute cheapest for .co.uk names. and although they do hosting, I cannot vouch for it as I haven%26#039;t tried it. Try looking at %26quot;www.1and1.co.uk%26quot; hosting they seem to do some pretty good deals and are well established.

Please note: Do not use small companies as most are run by individuals with re-seller accounts (I have one) and tend to come and go leaving you high and dry. Please try my advice as I have much user experience regarding hosting and names etc.

Other Replys:Hello!

first stop go to nominet.co.uk they are the internet URL, web address, regulators for the United kingdom. They can give u good people to buy, or most likely rent as its buy for two years, a URL from.

Shop around as a aussie company sold me a .co.uk for 鎷? per 2 years where as another big UK company want 鎷?0.

Bravenet.co.uk are good free hosts and provide a lot of assistance even basic templates. They also provide a good level of premium service.

Remember to check with the information commissioner for advice as its easy to break a law, like the data protection act, before you go %26#039;live%26#039; or active.

Any problems email me.

I just bought a domain name and i need a web host but dont know what one to use?

what is the cheapest, easiest to use, and best quaitiy Web host

I just bought a domain name and i need a web host but dont know what one to use?

I%26#039;d go with http://www.hostforprofit.com they actually pay you. Or if you something cheap http://www.address-hosting.com

I just bought a domain name and i need a web host but dont know what one to use?

Yahoo!!!

Trsut me, i have experience.

http://smallbusiness.yahoo.com

Other Replys:the vendor who sold you the domain should offer you some kind of a special deal when you buy the domain name. I host on my own servers. i have dealt with godaddy.com before and saw some good deals. check them out.

Other Replys:here are some good ones.

http://www.freeservers.com

http://www.freewebs.com

http://www.20m.com

Other Replys:daily razor cheep and fun to use

Other Replys:If you%26#039;re looking for cheap, have you checked on the hosting options offered by the website you bought your domain from? That%26#039;s usually the best for inexperienced webmasters, they will keep everything in one place for you. Dotster does a good job of this.

You might also look into Yahoo Sitebuilder - I had a chance to try this out with some clients, it%26#039;s pretty easy to use and they offer pre-made templates for you to use and some Yahoo Software to download.

Other Replys:I used www.godaddy.com for my hosting. It was fast, easy and costs 3.99 per month. Btw, it tends to work best if you get your hosting and domain at the same place. Good luck!

Other Replys:You get what you pay for. Cheap often is just that - cheap. Trust me, you may spend a bit more for a quality web host but when you consider less than 30 minute response to support issues, uptime, security and other important items, the extra bucks you spend per month or year will be more than worth it.

I recommend GH1 Web Hosting. Check out their website at http://www.gh1.com . I%26#039;ve got five customers hosted there and I have zero problems with this host. I also host my own personal web site and all my email through them.

Other Replys:I have domains on 1%26amp;1 and dreamhost. Both are good and inexpensive.

But ya did it backwards. Many hosting companies give you a free domain or three as part of the package.

Check out the co you got the domain from. You might still get a deal from them.

Other Replys:Depends on what you want on the site. If you want server side scripting languages, you should chose the type ASP, PHP, .net JSP or other things. otherwise you can get a hosting for 2 to 3 dollars a month. godaddy.com and dreamhosting.com are some.

Other Replys:There are literally hundreds of hosts out there which are %26quot;good%26quot;. I would suggest that you check out dreamhost.com, as they offer a lot of options including FREE domain w/ purchase of hosting (since you already have one you could actually get another and host both here or just transfer yours) ability to host unlimited domains, increasing memory by week, unlimited sub-domains... etc.. Also use code LMTDOFFER and get $75 off any plan, which makes their plan the cheapest

Other Replys:I would like to suggest following webhosting , they are excellent.

Hostmonster http://www.hostmonster.com/track/ryukend...

Anyone who might tell me which web hosting service is better, GoDaddy or Surpass Hosting?

I have been a Surpass Hosting client for several years, but I have been very dissapointed lately due to changes in their prices (higher) and because I am having problems to place new orders. I would like to know if GoDaddy (this is where I register domain names) is a good option for a change or I am open to any suggestions for any other provider which you can assure is 100% liable and with good prices (cpanel, please). Surpass%26#039; least expensive plan costs $65USD/yr and GoDaddy%26#039;s $43USD/yr. I have analyzed both plans features and it seems to me Surpass offers a lot more, but I am having trouble with some other aspects of their service. Is there any other web hosting provider offering almost the same? Please help!! Got a client waiting to see his website on the web!!

What kind of domain name does ".name" stand for?

I want to set up a website ending with .hk or .com.hk, but my hosting company don%26#039;t have such a choice for me to choose from to register. The only choices are .com, .net, .bs,.. and .name for me to register. Is it that if I choose .name, it can allow me to further choose domain names like .hk, .us, .ws etc.? Thank you in advance.

What kind of domain name does %26quot;.name%26quot; stand for?

The %26#039;.name%26#039; top-level domain is intended for people%26#039;s personal identity domain. I.e., the %26#039;.name%26#039; is for YOUR name -- http://www.johndoe.name .

It will not allow you to also have .hk or .us also. Note that the %26#039;.name%26#039; TLD is not yet in common usage.

What kind of domain name does %26quot;.name%26quot; stand for?

.name is a tld , you cannot choose anything further

Other Replys:To host your site for free, I would highly recommend the following 2 sites.

Awardspace -%26gt; http://www.awardspace.com (PHP + MySQL)

50webs -%26gt; http://www.50webs.com

Both of these sites allow you to host for free and does not have any advertisement pop ups like those provided by geocities. Once you have your site registed, your can give away free email addresses to your visitors. However, you would have to set them up manually.

I have sites hosted on both the companies. Example

Awardspace -%26gt; http://www.wanginternet.com

50webs -%26gt; http://cctvcamera.50webs.com

Also, read a review I wrote on Awardspace at http://www.wanginternet.com/free-web-hos...

Other Replys:There is no such thing as free webhosting. You can buy a great host with tons of space %26amp; features for less than $100 a year.

Other Replys:If you currently are a web subscriber, your current provider offers a homepage into which you can FTP your current webpage(s) [which can be authored/designed using Composer [an authoring tool which is free when using Netscape browser], NotePad, MSN Word, FrontPage, DreamWeaver, etc.] and use the homepage hosting services. In a sense, you are hosting a commercial webpage via the homepage link and incurring merely the monthly access of, say, AOL.com, etc. Nevertheless, should you want to link your current domain name to the homepage URL, you%26#039;ll need to use a third-party redirection service, i.e., mydomain.com [which is free] or simply direct your domain name registry, i.e., godaddy.com to forward your domain name [with masking] to the link it to your homepage URL. It%26#039;s that simple.

Good luck!

Can you point your domain to someone elses website just by changing dns to be indentical to theirs?

Hi

I need to know if you can point a domain to any website you choose if you copy their same dns servers? Or would they have to add you to their hosting or something? In other words if I go lookup Yahoo.com dns servers would my website address forward to them/ point to them just by copying their same dns or would they have to do something internally on their end too?

Thanks for any help you can provide

Can you point your domain to someone elses website just by changing dns to be indentical to theirs?

You need to point the dns to the server hosting your web pages. Be very careful what you alter in dns, an incorrect setting can lose you access totally, and making incorrect changes can get you blocked from ever accessing dns again along with serious legal consequences.

Questions on Website Creation and Hosting?

Ok First I know my fair share of some Tech stuff yet I have never Dealt with a website or hosting so I got some questions because I am thinking of grouping with my Artist freind and createing a Web Comic with my Story.

Is there any good sites were I can create and host the site without fuss? Maybe have an abilty to import HTML from Mircosoft Frontpage? Or are there better Website builders? I am not 100% Fluient with HTML, also can someone explane what Bandwith is and Domain Names?

Questions on Website Creation and Hosting?

I prefer GoDaddy.com myself for hosting. There are many others, they are just the company I have experience with. They have good rates for a variety of Domain Names and other products. Have great customer service support. As far as HTML editors there are also an abundance of products. I like to use both MS Frontpage as well as Macromedia Dreamweaver for constructing websites. As to your question about bandwidth, basically it refers to the amount of traffic to your site as well as transfers to and from your site. What I mean by this is if your are allowing downloads or uploads to your site. The amount of data transferred refers to your bandwidth. Domain Names are simple. www.yahoo.com is a domain name. DNS servers (Domain Name Servers) respond to requests from a web browser (ie. www.yahoo.com) and translate this request to an IP (Internet Protocol) address (ie. 122.34.65.35) Instead of people at their home PCs needing to remember some hexadecimal number, the can just use easy to remember domain names to find websites. Hope I have done a good job of answering your questions.

Questions on Website Creation and Hosting?

http://www.DependableHost.net is the perfect host for you! FrontPage works flawlessly with them, and the price is right! I%26#039;ve been with them for 1.5 years, and during that time their server has been online 100% of the time. Some say 100% uptime is not possible; I think I found an exception! They have a promo now - first month free, or a free domain name!

Bandwidth is the measurement of how much data from your site was sent to peoples%26#039; computers. Everytime a person visits your site, it uses bandwidth because information is being sent from the server to the person viewing your site.

Domain name is the web address of your site. In this case - yahoo.com.

Other Replys:Try the EZLAVA Web Site Builder. With the program, there%26#039;s no need to know HTML, PHP, ASP, or Javascript. It does everything for you via a central admin that appears when you click on an object (images, text, forms, etc.) to make changes. It%26#039;s wysiwyg editing and drag and drop capability, makes it a very powerful, yet easy to use web building system. And when you%26#039;re ready to publish your web site, you simply hit a button and your web site is live on the Internet. It also has a dynamic shopping cart builder, web form builder, html text editor, and every other feature you need. The program offers several affordable hosting options depending on what you need. We found the software definitely worth it! And if you have any questions, they have superb customer service.

The bandwidth and domain questions should be resolved by the other answers above.

...if you happen to be looking for a graphics program to use, check out Xara. It%26#039;s a European vector based graphics program. I think it would be perfect to use with your cartoon themed web site. It rivals Photoshop, but is much easier to use. : ) ...it also comes with a few extra plug in packages that include all sorts of special effects. (fire, lightning, chrome, water, smoke, etc.) It crossed my mind it would be a perfect tool for what you%26#039;re doing.

Good luck! : )

The main site is actually a support forum. As you can see, there is an option to upgrade if usage get higher and need more, this will save time in looking for another host or have to pay for more. Look for their terms and guide as they also have some auditing activities to check on accounts abusing the service.

Best blogger hosting?

i need a paid service- i want my own domain..

www.mydomain.com not mydomain.blogger.com

i currently use ixwebhosting and i love them but is there a hosting company that CATERS to bloggers

when i mean cater i mean there control panel is full of blogger tools

thanks

Best blogger hosting?

http://www.JuicyHosting.com or http://www.LocoDomains.com , they both are very good

Best blogger hosting?

Hi!

First off, buy your domain from enom.com or godaddy.com and keep control of it yourself. Never trust a hosting company with it! If you try to leave or so on they might hold it hostage if they are bad, and its better if you have control so you can just change the DNS servers (easy to do) if you want to change hosts.

Just grab a cheap host like IX or any other and use them. There are not really any hosts that will be different then them or offer you %26quot;blogger tools%26quot;. Really not sure what that is as the best blogger tools is just installing wordpress, getting a custom theme for it and some addons, but that is all up to you today unless you want to hire someone to help you. No hosting company will do that for you.

What kind of blogger tools are you wanting?

UK Web hosting provider call I-websolutions?

Has anyone else had problems with a hosting provider called I-websolutions? My website was not viewable sometimes for weeks on end, even though it had been working for a couple of days once I registered. Multiple tickets had been raised, frontpage extensions was reinstalled loads of times etc

I complained because of this, and got abused by their customer services department, I managed to get ones month refund, which wasnt the full amount. And now they wont let me transfer my domain name away from them (I had been with them for other 90days)

UK Web hosting provider call I-websolutions?

According to their website, they are up the creek.... Firstly their front page specificies that on all of their packages there is NO minimum contract period, so they can%26#039;t try blagging you that there is a 12 month agreement or anything like that. Secondly, they are in breach of their own Terms of Service, because from what you have said they have not refunded you enough as compared to the table they provide. Thirdly and most importantly from your point of view, THEY CANNOT REFUSE TO TRANSFER YOUR DOMAIN NAME. My advice would be to go to http://uk2.net and transfer your domain asap, they also offer excellent monthly or annual hosting packages. I have been using UK2.net for the past 5 years and have NEVER had cause to complain, currently they are hosting 6 websites for me and they hold 15 domain names I have registered. If I-Websolutions continue to give you grief, may I suggest that you contact BBC Watchdog, and threaten them with this, as well as with the press. It%26#039;s amazing how many companies back down if they think their reputation is going to be smeared. Hope that helps :) IT@tonicweb.co.uk

Can anyone recommend where i can buy a domain name?

I currently have a hosting package with hostmonster.com, however i didn%26#039;t realise at the time that they don%26#039;t register .co.uk names.

So can anyone recommend where i might be able to register a domain name, ideally someone who%26#039;s realiable. I also want to have full ownership over my domain name.

Thanks :)

Can anyone recommend where i can buy a domain name?

http://www.LocoDomains.com gives you full ownershipand has the best deals, cheaper than godaddy. Prices start at $0.99

Can anyone recommend where i can buy a domain name?

i think from google

Other Replys:Iomart.

Other Replys:Network Solutions. The ONLY place to go for quality, reliable domain names.

Other Replys:godaddy.com

Other Replys:networksolutions.com Oldest and the best

Other Replys:I%26#039;ve never had a problem from Namesco.

http://www.names.co.uk/

Other Replys:For ownership you need to register the domain name. Your local phone companies will probably provide stable hosting.

Other Replys:yahoo has a sale for only 1.99 it on the yahoo homepage

Other Replys:But hostmonster let you have a free .com name with your account. (Which is arguably more international and potentially better than co.uk in many cases...ideally get your name as .com AND .co.uk then it doesn%26#039;t mater if folks mis-recall it and put the wrong one in). Book the .com version via your Hostmonster account -- and buy the co.uk via somewhere like http://www.namecheap.com (which I have used for many domains and at US$8.88 they are pretty competitive and sell co.uk.) Then direct the .co.uk name to the .com site and you%26#039;re covered!

Other Replys:i use this one

http://www.virtualnames.co.uk/

Other Replys:(I have over 300 domains) I do NOT recommend NetworkSolutions. They are WAY overpriced.

The most trusted by domainers are:

Godaddy.com

NameCheap.com

DomainSite.com

Any of those three are cheap and good.

What's the best free web-hosting service?

I%26#039;m opening a new Avatar: The Last Airbender fansite and I need a free web-hosting service until I make enough off donations and or adsense to actually buy the domain with webhosting. I would like it to be ad free (if that%26#039;s even possible) and be able to work with ftp so I can upload my iWeb site.

Thanks

What%26#039;s the best free web-hosting service?

Free webhosts are not really good as they will use your site to make money.

Visit

http://www.nicewebhosts.com

there you will find best web hosting providers compared with their webspace and bandwidth as well as their prices.

What%26#039;s the best free web-hosting service?

You are asking for alot to get one with out ads on it. Have you thought about getting an cheat %26amp; small package of hosting. I think you will make more from a site like that as to a free site. You might want to check out this hosting http://www.quasar.net/

Am starting my own website in future - questions about domain / building actual site?

I want to start a website in next year - want to buy the domain name now at least, to %26quot;hold%26quot; it. Wondering though - after doing that, can I, at any point, buy a %26quot;Web hosting starter%26quot; package and just pay extra each month? OR is it easier just to bite the bullet and buy the web hosting package NOW and build my website later....I want to make sure it si the easiest process possible as it%26#039;s all new to me.

Am starting my own website in future - questions about domain / building actual site?

You can definitely buy the domain now (or somebody might beat you to it) and hold it until you are ready to start your website

You don%26#039;t have to buy a web hosting package now if you have NOTHING to put on it. It%26#039;s one thing to pay $8.99/year for the domain, and another to pay $24.99/month for a web hosting package that is not used

Get a web host IF AND ONLY IF you are ready to start your website. It doesn%26#039;t make sense to get a web host and waste money when you have nothing to put in there.

Am starting my own website in future - questions about domain / building actual site?

As long as you pay for the domain name when it expires -- e.g. if you paid yearly or pay for the domain for 10 years -- then it is yours. Be sure that when the domain is about to expire (or your year is up) renew the domain so that no one can take it away from you. Report It

Other Replys:And yes, even if you bought the domain from Yahoo, you can use any other web hosting company to host your website. Report It

Other Replys:Buy the domain now, and the hosting package when you%26#039;re ready to set it up. Also, remember you can buy hosting at a site other than where your domain is registered, and probably save a little money.

Recommend to me some good web hosting companies?

I have a small personal webpage and I%26#039;m unhappy with my current web hosting company (Brinkster).

Something free or very cheap would be best.

I%26#039;d prefer something that doesn%26#039;t force ads on my pages.

Having my own domain name is *not* important.

Support for languages such as PHP would be nice, but not necessary. Same goes for allowing me to host media files such as MP3s.

Recommend to me some good web hosting companies?

If you don%26#039;t mind file size limitations, there is:

atspace.com %26amp; 50webs.com that offer free ad-free web hosting

Neither support PHP at this time and media files could be stored off-site and hotlinked in.

Photobucket recently started hosting both images and videos and allows hotlinking.

As for mp3s...you might try Ripway.com but I%26#039;m not sure how good they are about their hosting.

Other Replys:The problem with Free hosting company is that you do not have control over your website, and you can find that your webpage is not available for several hours to several days.

In general, those free web hosting accounts are not reliable.

A good cheap web hosting:

* http://www.teknonmedia.com $4,95/month

* http://www.50megs.com $1,99/month

* http://www.doteasy.com/ ($25/year Free web hosting+ domain name)

* http://members.freewebs.com (it%26#039;s freebut with ads)

http://www.Hostgator.com is an excellent solution, but a little bit expensive. Thousands of businessman online are using this service, ultra reliable.

You can also start a free blog at http://www.blogger.com , it will take you less than 5 minutes to get started.

I think that a good option would be http://www.50megs.com $1,99/month.

Currently, our largest plan consists of 25GB of web space with 400GB of traffic. Every plan includes one free domain name, which I realize you say is of little importance to you but worth mentioning just the same. We do support PHP and you can host as many MP3%26#039;s as you can fit in your account. :)

All plans come with a large complement of free scripts and tools, designed to help you build and maintain a professional-looking web site; including tools like Joomla! %26amp; PHPNuke (content management systems), osCommerce (a shopping cart/billing system) and more than 20 other similar free tools!

Thank you for your time and I hope to have helped you in some way. :)

Other Replys:Hello,

You can try http://www.dreamhost.com hosting solution (if you%26#039;re also looking hosting with a free domain in the packages) , a respectable company and has a good support, uptime with over 700 servers. They give you 20GB Space and 1 Terrabyte of Bandwidth, and a free domain for a good price ($119/year), and with the promo code HOT75 you get $75 off to any yearly and monthly plans you purchase. They have everything you need.

Which means, with that promo code, you get $119 - $75 = $44/year

and $44 / 12 months is only $3.67 a month for that great deal!

Other Replys:I currently have hosting with DreamHost.com, many top websites use them such as duggmirror.com and lissaexplains.com (these sites use massive amounts of bandwidth)

The offer includes 1 TB bandwidth/20gb webspace. I have a promo code I can give out to discount $50.00 off hosting (normally $129.00 but now $69.00 with my promo code). Check it out if you%26#039;re interested:

Do we legally own our domain name?

The person who handles our website now has it listed under his name although we paid him. The website is our company%26#039;s name. We have also paid him for all his services i.e. developement, maintance, hosting, etc.

When we set this up we were not to web savy but now are. He is doing a poor job and may increase his monthly fee. How do we go about breaking ties with him and do we have legal grounds to the domain name since it%26#039;s in his name i.e. if I go to bigdaddy.com it says he is the one to contact.

Thanks!

Do we legally own our domain name?

He may own the ACCOUNT, but it%26#039;s your business name, and the contact information is false if it%26#039;s your business on the website... at the very least it should match your physical address... especially if you%26#039;ve got a digital signature from Verisign or Thawte... anything less is actually fraud.

Try emailing him a nice legal-sounding cease-and-desist letter, and CC a copy to the company doing the domain registration.

Do we legally own our domain name?

Sounds like you gave him permission to buy a domain name. Take hee contract you have with him, get it to an atty, and have him write up the paperwork to get the domain registered to you if indeed you can.

Other Replys:I answered a similar question, maybe a couple of weeks ago, was it you?

Bigdaddy.com (which I use also) has a dispute resolution section.

I am guessing you are not as web savvy now as you think, and that you are not in fact familiar with the ins an outs of software development, let alone its management.

And I think that you may be disappointed with the outcome of the dispute.

Not only that, but it is simple matter, and totally separate from bigdaddy, as to whether you can be cut off from access to any files or work material, whether the web site can be shutdown completely during a dispute, or even replaced with something else entirely.

And don%26#039;t forget the issues of who owns what in terms of work product - was it a work for hire or not?

I think you are going to have to rely on your contractual terms, or absent a contract, take a very holistic approach to satisfaction.

I generally, built not always, suggest my clients register their own domain names and list me as a technical contact.

How do I transfer a domain name to a new owner?

Can anyone point me in the direction of a good guide online of how to do this? I have found sites that help you make a sale like afternic, but I am wondering how I can do this on my own? Also, I have one domain with a company I do not like and I want to transfer it to another company with better web hosting services. How do I do that?

Thanks

How do I transfer a domain name to a new owner?

Domain name registration and web hosting are typically different services, and most companies should charge for them separately. Changing the physical location of the website is as easy as changing the Domain Name Servers (DNS) for your domain name account. How exactly to do that will vary with each company, and how they designed their website%26#039;s user interface. But now that you know what to look for, you should be pointing in the right direction.

As far as changing the domain name REGISTRAR company, the timing is a bit more crucial. Normally you%26#039;ll wait until a few weeks before the domain is about to expire, and sign up with a new registrar to initiate the transfer.

Maybe a specific example will help...

I used to have both domain name registration and web hosting from GoDaddy. Their web hosting didn%26#039;t fill my needs, so I opened a new web hosting account with HostGator. I then canceled my GoDaddy web hosting service, and pointed the DNS to those provided by my new web hosting company.

How do I transfer a domain name to a new owner?

Check with the company you bought it from and they%26#039;ll tell you. Most will let you transfer but some like Yahoo Small Buisness won%26#039;t

it depends

- if the new owner uses the same register as you, then your register should tell you how.

- if the new owner uses a different register, then they will they how. and remember to unlock your domain from your current register.. it is in the options

Cheapest hosting?

I want to a host my new website (Already baught the domain name), currently I just need to upload one page. And probably not any soon I will add more. What is the cheapest/best choice for such a very simple basic website (webpage)

Cheapest hosting?

I am hosting my website at http://aplis.net/ . You can also give them a try. Or else try freehostia for free.

Cheapest hosting?

If it is just going to be one page, you should consider premium parking with the place you purchased the domain name.

godaddy is very cheap

Other Replys:If you currently are a web subscriber, your current provider offers a homepage into which you can FTP your current webpage(s) [which can be authored/designed using NotePad, MSN Word, FrontPage, DreamWeaver, etc.] and use the homepage hosting services.

Good luck!

What exactly does a web domain include?

I won a free domain online, which is great, but now I have no idea what to do. Do I need to find a file-hosting site for the content I%26#039;m about to upload onto the web, or can I just design a webpage and upload it directly with dreamweaver or something? If there%26#039;s anything else at all that I need in order to create and upload a website, let me know what it is and where I can find it. :)

What exactly does a web domain include?

ya, of course you need space to host a site. with domain only you cannot upload your files you need server to do that. So, the options are you can buy space or find free space providers. if you gonna buy space you may contact me. I can provide in your pocket money.

What exactly does a web domain include?

Most of that information should be included with the package you won. Some domain companies offer %26quot;hosting%26quot; for you. However be ware because they will give you a bandwidth limit and charge you if you go over that limit. But the majority of the time you must have your own HOST then you would just direct your DOMAIN to the host address.

Example:::

So If i had a webpage hosted at http://www.geocities.com/free and i won a domain, I would set up my domain http://www.free.com to direct itself to that geocities address.

Hope this helped.

Other Replys:I agree with what everyone else has said. My experience was that I purchased a domain name, then found a hosting service I liked. I used easy cgi and pointed my site to my domain name. I created my website in publisher then uploaded the files using the hosts upload program. Very easy once you get the hang of it.

Other Replys:You have to get an stable hosting service provider where you can upload your site.

There are thousands of free host who provide you hosting free of cost but you have certain limitations or they put their ads on your site so better spend some money and get a reliable hosting with 24*7 free technical support.

You can contact us at webhosting.uk.com for your hosting need.

All The Best.

Other Replys:If you pay money for the hosting service there is nothing on you site but what you put there. If you get a free hosting site probably you will have ads. I personally use this site and it is very easy to set-up and use. I also gave you a link to my wife%26#039;s web site, that is on that site. Good Luck.

What's the difference between linux and windows 2003 hosting?

I thought I%26#039;d try building my own website but don%26#039;t really have a clue what I am doing. I registered a domain name last night (a .co.uk one) and the same site offers web hosting. As it%26#039;s just a hobby at the moment I don%26#039;t want to pay out too much expense so there%26#039;s two 鎷?.99 per month options. One with linux and one with windows 2003. What%26#039;s the difference?

What%26#039;s the difference between linux and windows 2003 hosting?

It depends on what you want from your web site. The Linux server will be more secure for your site. If you want to connect to a database you will need to learn a bit about MySQL (probably) and writing PHP web pages. The Windows server will be more prone to worms and malicious attack and you will need to learn MS SQL server and writing ASP web pages if you want to connect that to a database.

I prefer the Linux solution but others will tell you differently...

What%26#039;s the difference between linux and windows 2003 hosting?

For linux hosting , you might not have services like asp.net

available and hence it is cheap

Other Replys:There are many differences. Linux is best. 2003 server is microsoft base. and virus is specially designed for microsoft attacked on microsoft....linux is much relible..........

Other Replys:In Linux, when typing the URL, case does matter, Linux sees %26quot;URL%26quot; different from %26quot;Url%26quot;, Windows does not. Linux is less prone to viruses due to the nature of the operating system, since both are on the public internet, they can both be hacked, it is up the hosting company to secure that. Aside from that not much else that really matters except if you build the website in Publisher, you will have problems running it on a Linux server (my first website mistake, none of the pages loaded correctly).

Other Replys:If you thinks about:

Visitor satisfaction, reliability, uptime, security, then use Linux hosting.

What is the best Hosting Company...?

Best is godaddy.com

But you won%26#039;t get all this features for such a small price...you%26#039;re just dreaming there buddy

What is the best Hosting Company...?

I am using http://aplis.net/ they do meet your web hosting requirements

Other Replys:You can find the top hosts in price and reliability at www.tophostreviews.blogspot.com

I recommend the first one as it%26#039;s 1 cent to try it out.

Hope you find the right one.

Other Replys:http://yrhost.com/affiliate/idevaffiliat... is most reliable. Less than $10 per month.

It%26#039;s useless when a provider give you unlimited space %26amp; bandwith if they disable your script (.cgi Search Script) or teminate your account saying that you use too much of the server resources.

i%26#039;ve try a few provider that disable my script (.cgi Search Script) without telling me %26amp; 2 of the provider even tell me that my account is been terminated and when ask for refund they ask me to read their terms and condition saying that there is no refund.

Do some research before getting a Host.

1. Support Offered? Live Chats, Ticket System, Email Support, Telephone Support.Support is important when your site is down.

2. Reviews?Do a web search on provider. e.g. %26quot;company+review%26quot;, %26quot;domain+review%26quot;. See if there was any previous problems with server downtime, bandwidth issues, company business style and reputation.

3. How long has this company been in business?Use WHOIS to check Registry Data (Domain: Date Created %26amp; Date Expiry)

4. Package Details.Disk Space, Monthly Transfer (bandwidth), MySQL Databases, CGI, PHP4 or 5, FrontPage, ...

5. Control Panel FeaturesDEMO is usually available, try-out to see if you are comfortable with it.

6. Important!!!Check if the provider offers a refund service before signing up.

Other Replys:I agree with other answerers who%26#039;ve mentioned that most sane people don%26#039;t want the sorts of things you%26#039;re after... Any host offering unmetered hosting is overselling the hell out of their services. My host (calcohosting.com) keeps their domain-to-server ratio under 40-to-1 and usually closer to half that. If you%26#039;re serious about hosting, you should look for a good host instead of a bottom feeder. Good luck.

To Add a Subdomain to Your Hosting Account (Configuration 2.0)

Log in to your Account Manager.

In the My Products section, select Hosting Account List.

Next to the hosting account you want to modify, click Open.

In the Settings section of the Hosting Control Center, click the

What's a good hosting company that provides professional looking, easy to create website templa

I have a few domain names, and I%26#039;m planning to create websites for them. Although I know Html, I just don%26#039;t have the time to create my own website from scratch. I don%26#039;t really have time for Dreamweaver or FrontPage either. Since I am not planning to use multimedia, is there a hosting company that provides decent website templates that look reasonably professional and can be modified, and also can be set up to accept payments such as PayPal or credit cards.

What%26#039;s a good hosting company that provides professional looking, easy to create website templates?

Godaddy.com -- That%26#039;s where I host, and they have good template based designs. Also try Mindspring, they have pretty good hosting rates, and I believe they implement NetObjects Fusion 10 for site building. Good luck!

PHP form with FREE hosting acount ????

I have set up my first test PHP. form, the domain is arbico.awardspace.com

The setting for the mail path is this, is everything correct??

I have a free acount...

Sendmail path /usr/sbin/sendmail (SMTP is disabled for your hosting account)

I first set up my form feedback page witht he following HTML code on it:

%26lt;form method=%26quot;post%26quot; action=%26quot;sendmail.php%26quot;%26gt;

Email: %26lt;input name=%26quot;email%26quot; type=%26quot;text%26quot; /%26gt;

Message:

%26lt;textarea name=%26quot;message%26quot; rows=%26quot;15%26quot; cols=%26quot;40%26quot;%26gt;

%26lt;/textarea%26gt;

%26lt;input type=%26quot;submit%26quot; /%26gt;

%26lt;/form%26gt;

Then I made a notepad called %26quot;sendmail.php%26quot; and i set the form up to send it to my email address and then go thorugh to google. Here is the code I put into the notepad;

%26lt;?php

$email = $_REQUEST[%26#039;email%26#039;] ;

$message = $_REQUEST[%26#039;message%26#039;] ;

mail( %26quot;bentonere06@googlemail.com%26quot;, %26quot;Feedback Form Results%26quot;,

$message, %26quot;From: $email%26quot; );

header( %26quot;Location: http://www.google.com%26quot; );

?%26gt;

Everything seems to work well on it but i%26#039;m just NOT revieing any email ??

PHP form with FREE hosting acount ????

Try changing

$email = $_REQUEST[%26#039;email%26#039;] ;

$message = $_REQUEST[%26#039;message%26#039;] ;

to

$email = $_POST[%26#039;email%26#039;] ;

$message = $_POST[%26#039;message%26#039;] ;

since the form method is post - %26lt;form method=%26quot;post%26quot;%26gt;

I can%26#039;t say for sure if that%26#039;s the problem, but that%26#039;s how my email forms have always been coded and it%26#039;s worth a shot. Good luck!

Where can I get a free hosted Forums site with a FREE domain name?

There is absolutely no way you can get a free domain. However, you can find free domain hosting, although it%26#039;ll have restrictions and stuff.

If you want me to lie to you, I can give you a bunch of fake sites to give you false hope, but my answer is the BEST answer you%26#039;re going to get. I have followed questions like these for a while, and no one had posted a legitimate free domain site. You can%26#039;t find something that does not exist.

http://www.ezboard.com - Free forum, free hosting.

Other Replys:There is no service that offers both for free. However, you can search for a free forum host of your choice and go to freedomain.co.nr to get a free domain name.

For free forum hosting, I recommend ezboard.com

What is the best web hosting service for a personal website?

I have recently been intrested in making a good website and I%26#039;ve been searching for good web hosting services. So I was wondering what would be a good option?

Considerations:

Windows XP compatible

no advertisements

get a *.com domain

cheap!

Microsoft Frontpage extention support

CGI script support

-----------------------

Thank you for you feedback, it will really help be find the proper services I require. :)

What is the best web hosting service for a personal website?

If you want your own domain for cheap (free)...Microsoft Office Live offers a free domain. By offering this free domain they are hoping to snag a large market share since nobody else offers a free domain. It will require a credit card for verification and they will put a logo on your site, but hey it%26#039;s free! (They also have an upgrade option if you want to purchase).

BTW - If you want to actually purchase a domain I would recommend http://www.godaddy.com

Other Replys:I use IPowerWeb for my web hosting services. They meet all your requirements and so far I have rarely had trouble with them. Another one you might try is Blue Host. Neither are free but they are really cheap.

Other Replys:www.godaddy.com

That is the BEST anywhere!!! I am serious!!!

Other Replys:Try me :)

http://onlyfor7dollar.com

Other Replys:I%26#039;ve used http://bluehost.com and http://godaddy.com successfully and have had good customer service responses from both.

If you%26#039;re interested in working with Paypal IPN system for ecommerce eventually, go with Blue Host. GoDaddy is more complicated to set up for that.

Other Replys:I can help you come to my website which is http://www.online-web-hosting.blogspot.c...

This site has cheap web hosting available for you.

Other Replys:You shouldn%26#039;t use the free webpage sites. I%26#039;d recommend buying a cheap one.

Check out sites such as http://www.getawebpage.net

They recommend web page hosting companies and usually offer a lower price.

Good luck.

Other Replys:I recommend using a http://www.sharkspace.com for a web host. They have a great easy to use control panel and are very reliable. They also have everything you have listed.

Other Replys:Well if you are looking for free or basically as little expense as possible, I would recommend using NVU editor (www.nvu.com), it%26#039;s free and wont tie you down to one method of editing. NVU pages can be transferrable to frontpage or dreamweaver html editor

SEE http://www.interkeys.com/htmleditor for more info on Premium HTML Editors (WYSIWYG)

Youre better off in the future getting frontpage or dreamweaver but if you just want to experiment, NVu is fine for now.

For the lowest price hosting possible, I would use http://www.interkeys.com/tophosts to get one for a few bucks a month. There you can get a quick review of the cheapest and most reliable hosts. Startlogic has a 4.95/month plan as of today with over 3 gigs of bandwidth (which is enough for millions of hits)

its up to you how developed a site you want and if you want to use your own domain name

Best ASP.NET (C#) web hosting?

Hi!

I got a contract, and I would need to find a ASP.NET 2.0 (C#) web hosting.

This is for a small website, I do not need a database (well for now).

Any suggestions?

I found GoDaddy, which is not expensive, (I probably buy the domain name here) but I would like some recommandation or comments.

Thank you very much!

Best ASP.NET (C#) web hosting?

I have a few dozen websites with GoDaddy. The hosting is fine. You should be aware that they are rather restrictive with MS SQL Server connections, and you%26#039;ll have to carefully read their literature if you ever want to use SQL Server. Otherwise, I love it!

P.S. I might point out that they also support MySQL and Access without the MS SQL issues.

Best ASP.NET (C#) web hosting?

I am using http://aplis.net/ web hosting.

Other Replys:If you like to create websites (usually you will end up more than 1 website, I got more than 100 websites in about 6 months%26#039; time), go for multiple web hosting services where you could host all your websites in one account.

I would like to suggest following webhosting which I use, they are excellent.

Hostmonster http://www.hostmonster.com/track/ryukend...

They offer hosting of %26quot;unlimited domains%26quot; and you will get massive webspace of 300000 MB (300 GB ).

How do I find out where my domain name is registered?

Hi,

You can check at http://webhosting.info/domains/

Are there any free web hosting sites that actually let you customize them?

I%26#039;m trying to make a site, but I want to be able to customize it. Every free hosting site i%26#039;ve seen so far all have pre-made layouts that I%26#039;m not really interested in using. I want something that I can actually use (like with HTML, photoshop, etc.) and have fun with. I dont mind if there would have to be something like %26quot;.googlepages.com%26quot; attached to the domain name. i just dont want to have to pay and i want a decent amount of freedom.

does such a thing exist?

I also give a free domain (.com name) if you hit over 1500 hits per month

Other Replys:Try http://directspace.net. They give a free 1 or 2GB hosting account with Cpanel. You have complete control over everything.

Other Replys:Free is not always better! You should checkout Profithost.net on http://www.profithost.net they allready offer packages starting from 25$ yearly!

Remember, you get what you pay for, so you should choose at least a host that asks you to pay for the services!
