Blog Hosting! How?

I was told to create a major interactive website for my class, including a blog service (like blogger for example), allowing to each student to have their own blog within the site, and the domain of it should be something like: thestudent.theclass.com.

May you provide me with any thoughts to create such site, what programs I might need, what resources I should use, what hosting server?

We are 55 students, and our budget is between 1000 - 1500 $. (If it%26#039;s going to cost more, tell me).

For hosting, if your school provides hosting space that satisfies the requirements for either package, that should be good enough. Alternatively, you can order a domain name (upwards of $35/year, though you can find much lower prices if you shop around) and pay a provider for hosting (depending on the amount of space you need and your potential traffic, this can cost anywhere from $5/month to $50/month or more). I%26#039;d suggest investigating what your school offers before paying for a domain name and hosting.

For the %26quot;rest%26quot; of the web page, I%26#039;d just stick with the blogs and provide a directory of student and teacher blogs. Have your teacher setup his or her blog as the main class resource.

if i were u, i will be using Dreamweaver to create the website interface and coding (http://www.adobe.com)

as a database i would use MySql (it is free, relaible)

programming language, PHP (free, reliable, lots of help forums)

webserver , Apache (free) or IIS (the Microsoft web server..if u have a windows XP cd, u can install it using it..it is embedded in the windowsXP OS cd, but have to installe separately)

using these stuff will decrease ur budget n increase efficiency
