I've bought the domain name but finding it difficult to build a site - Help required!!?

I bought a domain name from 123-reg, it says you can use their free InstantSite to build a website, which is great as its my first website, but i cant seem to use it properly and am wondering if i can build a website using different software or method which is preferably free (it doesnt matter if its on or offline) and then would i be able to upload that onto 123-reg%26#039;s hosting? I have used HTML before on sites such as MySpace, so im not worried at all if i have to use code. I have looked at freewebs to create a site, and they seem to have everything that i require, both to create a site and also to host, would i be able to use freewebs to create and host my website and if yes, how do i do it?

Or would it be best to create a redirection link from a basic 123-reg InstantSite which has my original domain name to a freewebs site (which has a freewebs domain in it!), so that i get what i want on the website!?

If you want to build your own website then you can do that with Frontpage or Word, etc.

Then you just need to know the FTp address for your 123reg domain. usually ftp://ftp.yourwebsite.com and enter your username and password.

Make sure your homepage is named index.html or default.html.

God forbid you use horrid software like Word or Frontpage to build sites. I shiver just at thinking about the results. I rather use EMACS (you might not get the joke if you are not familiar with the UNIX Editors War), or worse, Notepad. If you wish to use a good editor, go for Dreamweaver, or if you like free software, Bluefish is also good. Eclipse with the proper plugins (Aptana) will also help you.

I rather do HTML by code, and then use the w3c validator found at http://validator.w3.org/ to check my work. Yes, I like to be HTML 4.01 compliant.

Best suggestion I can give you, read over the HTML and CSS standards, then use them. It will help you make wonders.

Other Replys:You cannot use freewebs, you can either buy web hosting from websites like http://aplis.net/ or else try free webhosting service provider like awardspace

Other Replys:You have choices, but I can%26#039;t see on their home page if 123-reg supports FTP transfers. You can find out before downloading this program. %26quot;Kompozer%26quot; this is a wysiwyg dedicated web page builder and is totally free from our very good friends the Linux fraternity. Easier to use than Dreamweaver and Frontpage AND does nearly as much.

OF course an alternative is to use http://www.own-free-website.com

Where you can build a site easily %26amp; free.
